Steve Campbell
Steven G Campbell is a seasoned C-Suite global executive with experience in publicly traded technology companies listed on US (NASDAQ), Singapore (SGX) and Thailand (SET) stock exchanges. He has built and led global multi-country and cross-cultural teams across North America and Asia. As CEO of Magnecomp he led the company from near bankruptcy to profitability, growing revenue 4X in 4 years. He also led a successful reverse takeover of a direct competitor in Thailand, an acquisition in the Netherlands and Joint Venture buyouts in Japan and Hong Kong.
Mr. Campbell has significant strength in organization design and selection and growth of leadership talent. During his tenure as CTO at Hitachi Global Storage Technology he overhauled all global technology and product development organizations and processes across 6 development sites in the US and Japan. This resulted in significant Time to Market improvement through technology leverage across all 3 product lines. These changes enabled the company to move from a loss-making position to profitability and take the leadership position in market share as well as product quality for Enterprise storage in both Hard Disk and Solid State Disk storage. He has deep technical understanding of complex electronic and electro-mechanical devices which are manufactured in high volume. He also managed large joint product development projects between major companies, Hitachi with Intel on Enterprise Solid State storage and Western Digital with IBM on high performance Hard Disk drives.
Previous positions include CTO of Hitachi Global Storage, CTO of Western Digital Corporation, CEO of Singapore listed Magnecomp International/Innotek and CEO of Thai listed Magnecomp Precision Technology following the reverse takeover of KRP Thailand.
He has recent experience as an investor, advisor and director of several early stage US companies.
With a total of over 40 years of experience in High Tech Companies beginning with Hewlett Packard (’76-’81), Mr. Campbell developed and managed products in data storage, display technology and printing. The balance of his career was spent at Honeywell (’81-’83), Quantum (’83-’88), Western Digital (’88-’00), DataPlay (’00-’02), Magnecomp (’02-’08) and Hitachi finally returning to WD by acquisition of HGST (09-’17). Outside interests include competitive formula car racing, general aviation (licensed pilot) and classic cars.
